In addition to running Work for the Dole (WFD) projects, CADET develops, approves and monitors projects that benefit the community and provide valuable work experience for the unemployed. It’s area of operation stretches from the Brisbane River to just south of Gympie. Since CADET commenced as a Community Work Coordinator – it has overseen more than 250 projects and more than 9,000 participants. The Community Works program is also managed by CADET CWC and is a monitored form of volunteering that recognises volunteers through the provision of Training Credits. Community Work is also an accepted Mutual Obligation activity. The Community Work Division also administers Training Credits – which are a reward for successfully participating in either Work for the Dole or Community Work. Clients receive up to $800 to spend on accredited training or other training that will improve their employability. CADET advises clients of the most suitable training if required and also books and organise payment for the training course. As the number of people eligible for Work for the Dole dwindles due to the very low unemployment rate, the Community Work Division is looking to diversify in order to achieve our goal of assisting the community. The Division is always actively investigating opportunities and strategic partnerships to benefit the wider community.
